Chapter 10 - A Kingdom Built on Love

One year later.

The summer sun beamed down on the rolling lawns of the Moretti estate in Westchester. The entire perimeter was adorned with thousands of white roses, cascading wisteria, and strings of warm fairy lights.

Music floated through the air as New York’s most influential figures—senators, Wall Street titans, tech innovators, and respected family leaders—gathered in elegant celebration.

Inside the grand dressing pavilion, Sloan looked at her reflection in the full-length mirror.

She wore a breathtaking, hand-sewn lace wedding gown that swept the floor, her dark hair woven with delicate pearls. There was no trace of the exhausted, broken woman who had stood in the cold outside Hudson Yards. In her place stood a radiant, confident woman who ruled an empire and knew the true meaning of power.

A soft knock came at the door, and Ara bounced into the room.

At six years old, Ara was thriving. She was glowing with health, her laughter ringing through the house every single day. She wore an adorable miniature bride's dress, holding a brand-new, custom-made wand made of solid silver and embedded with real pink sapphires.

""Mommy! Mommy, look!"" Ara beamed, spinning around. ""Mr. Dante said that after today, I get to call him Daddy!""

Tears of pure happiness welled in Sloan's eyes. She knelt down, kissing her daughter’s forehead. ""He will always be your daddy, baby. Always.""

The chapel bells began to chime.

Hand in hand, Sloan and Ara walked out toward the grand outdoor altar overlooking the lake.

Waiting at the end of the aisle, standing tall and proud beneath an arch of white blossoms, was Dante Moretti. When he saw Sloan, the legendary mafia king, who had never bowed to any man or king, wiped away a stray tear from his cheek.

As Sloan reached the altar, Dante extended his hand. She placed her fingers in his, feeling the warmth, the strength, and the absolute safety of his touch.

Beside them, Ara stood proudly as the maid of honor, waving her silver wand toward the sky.

""Do you, Dante Moretti, take Sloan Kensington to be your wife, to protect her, honor her, and cherish her for all the days of your life?"" the officiant asked.

Dante looked into Sloan's eyes, his soul laid bare. ""With every breath in my body, with every drop of blood in my veins. Until the end of time.""

""And do you, Sloan Kensington, take Dante Moretti to be your husband, your protector, and your partner in all things?""

Sloan smiled, her heart entirely whole. ""I do.""

""By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.""

Dante wrapped his arms around Sloan’s waist, pulling her flush against his chest, and captured her lips in a deep, passionate kiss that sealed their fates together forever. The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, cheers echoing across the hills.

Dante lifted Ara into his other arm, holding both of his girls close.

High above the estate, the first rounds of celebratory fireworks burst across the twilight sky—not to mock them from afar, but to celebrate their triumph.

Ara pointed her silver wand toward the bright golden sparks, leaning against Dante's chest with a radiant smile.

""Look, Daddy,"" Ara whispered happily. ""Real stars stay right where they belong.""

Dante kissed the little girl's cheek, then pulled Sloan even closer against his heart.

""Yes, they do, little star,"" Dante whispered. ""Welcome home."""
