Chapter 10 - The True Mrs. Moretti

One year later, the Moretti estate was once again filled with the hum of laughter, music, and celebration.

The grand ballroom doors were thrown wide open to the sun-drenched gardens, where hundreds of guests mingled beneath white silk canopies decorated with fresh white roses and lavender. But this was not the cold, calculating crowd of corporate sycophants who had gathered for the ill-fated Sinclair merger. Today, the ballroom was filled with true friends, loyal family, business partners who valued integrity, and dozens of community leaders from Isabella’s childhood neighborhood on the West Side.

In the center of the terrace, little Rosa Moretti—named after Isabella's late mother—toddled across the soft grass, clutching a stuffed velvet bear and giggling as she chased a butterfly. She wore a delicate lace dress, her bright dark eyes and infectious laughter capturing the hearts of everyone watching.

On the front page of the morning's Chicago Tribune, a small column noted that Vanessa Sinclair had officially begun her seven-year sentence at the Lincoln Correctional Center following her guilty plea to multiple counts of conspiracy and corporate espionage. The Sinclair name had been thoroughly erased from the city's financial registry, replaced by the flourishing philanthropic works of the Bennett-Moretti Trust.

Isabella stood at the top of the grand staircase, looking down at the celebration. She wore a stunning emerald green gown that hugged her curves with unapologetic elegance, the deep jewel tone radiating against her olive skin. Around her throat hung a simple, breathtaking diamond choker Dante had designed himself, etched on the inside with the date of Rosa’s birth.

Strong, familiar arms wrapped around her waist from behind. Dante pulled her flush against his chest, resting his chin gently on her shoulder as they watched their daughter stumble happily into Marco’s waiting, protective arms on the lawn below.

""What are you thinking about, Mrs. Moretti?"" Dante murmured, kissing the soft spot beneath her ear.

""I was thinking about the night she was born,"" Isabella replied, turning her head slightly to meet his gaze. ""How close we came to letting darkness tear everything apart.""

""Darkness never had a chance against you, Bella,"" Dante said fiercely, turning her around in his arms so he could look directly into her eyes. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, familiar velvet box.

Isabella arched an eyebrow, a teasing smile touching her lips. ""Another piece of jewelry, Dante? I thought we agreed the safe was full.""

""This isn't business collateral, and it’s not an apology,"" he said softly, opening the box. Inside lay a brand-new platinum eternity band, encrusted with brilliant, unbreakable diamonds that shimmered in the afternoon sun. ""This is a promise. Ten years ago, I thought power was something you seized with iron fists and silent rooms. But you taught me that real power is the family you protect, the woman you honor, and the love that refuses to bend.""

He slipped the ring onto her finger, right beside her original wedding band.

""You never took anyone's place, Isabella,"" Dante whispered, his voice carrying the full weight of his heart. ""You built a place that no one else could ever hold.""

Isabella smiled, looping her arms around her husband's neck, and pulled him down into a deep, lingering kiss as the applause of the crowd below rose into the golden Chicago sky."
