Chapter 7 - A Father's Legacy

At noon, a sleek black helicopter bearing the Marlowe silver star landed on the yacht's private helipad. The rotors slowed to a gentle hum, and my father stepped out onto the deck. At sixty-eight, Arthur Marlowe still commanded every space he occupied. His silver hair was neatly trimmed, his grey suit sharp, and his blue eyes sharp with decades of wisdom.

He didn't mention the news reports or the millions of views online. He simply walked straight toward me, opened his arms, and pulled me into a fierce, protective embrace.

"Are you well, my girl?" he asked softly, kissing the crown of my head.

"I am fine, Father," I smiled, leaning back to look at him. "A bit wet last night, but the tea helped."

Arthur chuckled, though his eyes darkened slightly as he looked toward the salon doors. "You handled yourself with grace, Elena. Many young people in your position would have screamed, struck back, or used their security to hurt that foolish girl physically. You held your head high and let the law do its work."

"You taught me that," I reminded him as we walked side by side toward the outdoor lounge. "You always said that anger makes you sloppy. You said if someone attacks your pride, they are only showing you where they are weakest."

"And she was very weak indeed," Arthur agreed, sitting down and pouring himself a cup of coffee. "Her father was a coward who hid behind shell companies, and she was a coward who hid behind a ring light. But this incident brings us to a more serious matter."

He gestured to Julian, who pulled a leather-bound document from his briefcase and laid it on the table before me.

"The gala on Saturday is no longer just a charity event," Arthur said, his voice turning serious and solemn. "I am stepping down as Chairman of Marlowe Maritime Holdings. The board voted this morning to ratify my decision. I am handing the entire fleet, the shipyards, and our philanthropic trusts over to you."

I stared at the thick document, my heart skipping a beat. "Father... I thought we agreed on waiting until next year."

"After last night, there is no need to wait," Arthur said, placing his warm hand over mine. "You showed the world that you cannot be intimidated, you cannot be bought, and you do not abuse your authority. You protect the people who work for you, and you stand firm in the storm. The Marlowe name is safe in your hands."
