Chapter 10 - The Masterpiece

Two years later, the gardens of the Cabot Mill were alive with midsummer color. Lavender and wild hydrangeas bloomed along the riverbank, and hundreds of warm paper lanterns hung between the ancient oak trees.

It was Hannah and Julian’s wedding day.

The ceremony was intimate, vibrant, and completely authentic. Hannah wore a breathtaking ivory gown made from her own hand-woven raw silk, embroidered along the train with delicate silver thread mimicking the flow of river currents. Her curves were celebrated, her beauty undeniable, and her radiant joy filled the entire garden.

Julian stood at the altar beneath an archway of reclaimed cedar, his eyes shining with pure emotion as Hannah walked down the grassy aisle on her own two feet, sovereign and unyielding. When she reached him, he took both of her hands and kissed her knuckles with fierce, unwavering devotion.

Sitting in the front row, holding a place of honor as family, was Eleanor Callahan. Eleanor looked healthier than she had in a decade, dressed in royal blue, wiping away tears of sheer joy with a lace handkerchief. Eleanor had severed Reid’s executive control over the family foundation after his behavior, leaving Reid to work an ordinary branch post in London, while Eleanor dedicated her remaining years to backing women artists and healthcare initiatives.

""Hannah,"" Julian said during his vows, his voice ringing clear through the summer evening breeze, ""you taught me that true strength isn't about avoiding the cracks; it's about weaving something extraordinary through them. I promise to honor your independence, celebrate your brilliant mind, and stand beside you in every room, in front of every crowd, for the rest of my days.""

Hannah looked into Julian's steady, honest eyes. Her past—the cold hospital corridor, the humiliation, the stolen bracelet, the arrogant man who had made her feel small—felt like a lifetime ago. That pain had not broken her; it had forged the woman who stood here today, surrounded by real love, meaningful work, and unshakable self-worth.

""I choose you, Julian,"" Hannah promised, ""because you love with your hands open and your heart clear. Together, we build something that lasts.""

When the officiant pronounced them husband and wife, Julian pulled her into his arms and kissed her under the golden glow of the lanterns, while their friends, artisans, and loved ones erupted into thunderous, joyous applause.

Later that night, as the party danced under the stars by the river, Eleanor walked up to Hannah and handed her a small velvet box.

""A wedding gift, my dear,"" Eleanor whispered.

Hannah opened it. Inside lay an exquisite, custom-forged platinum bracelet, embedded with a single green tourmaline stone matching Hannah's eyes. Inside the band was an engraved inscription: To the woman who gave life, and claimed her own crown.

""Thank you, Eleanor,"" Hannah said softly, hugging the older woman warmly.

Hannah walked out onto the stone bridge overlooking the river, Julian wrapping his arm securely around her waist as they watched the lanterns reflect across the dark, moving water. She rested her head against his shoulder, completely at peace. She had given a piece of herself away in the shadows, but she had gained an entire lifetime of light."
