Chapter 10 - The Olive Tree Blooms

Six months later, the private courtyard of the Moretti estate was transformed into a floral wonderland. Thousands of white lilies, soft blush roses, and fresh eucalyptus branches hung from the stone archways.
At the center of the lawn, a magnificent Sicilian olive tree had been planted—its deep roots firmly anchored into the rich, fertile earth, its silver-green leaves shimmering under the bright summer sky.
Alessandro stood beneath the canopy of the olive tree wearing a tailored navy tuxedo. His legal empire had been radically overhauled: over the past half-year, under Luca’s brilliant administrative restructuring, every single gray-market holding, warehouse alliance, and questionable racket had been liquidated, transferred, or sold off. In their place stood legitimate shipping lines, clean real estate developments, and a massive charitable pediatric foundation named after Sophia.
Alessandro Moretti was no longer a shadowy figure in the underworld; he was a legitimate pillar of industry and, above all else, a devoted family man.
Music began to swell from a string quartet near the fountain.
Walking down the stone pathway was five-year-old Sophia, serving as the proudest flower girl in the world. She wore a white silk dress with a yellow ribbon sash, tossing rose petals from a woven basket. Beside her trotted Max, sporting a handsome black bow tie attached to a brand-new, customized leather collar. Max walked with head held high, looking around like the undisputed guardian prince of the estate.
And then came Isabella.
She was breathtaking in an off-the-shoulder lace bridal gown, her dark hair cascading down her back, her radiant smile outshining the midday sun. Around her neck, the silver olive tree pendant sparkled proudly against her skin.
When she reached the altar beneath the ancient tree, Alessandro took her hand, his heart overflowing with a peace he had never dreamed possible.
""You once told me an olive tree could survive anything if its roots were deep enough,"" Alessandro said before the minister and their gathered friends. ""Our roots survived six years of separation, rainstorms, mountain ravines, and the darkness of my past. Today, Isabella, I promise that for the rest of my days, you and Sophia will only ever know sunlight.""
""You built a sanctuary for us out of love, not fear,"" Isabella replied, her voice steady and full of devotion. ""And wherever you are, that is our home.""
When the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Alessandro pulled Isabella into his arms and kissed her, surrounded by cheers, applause, and the joyful barking of the German Shepherd who had refused to give up on his family.
Sophia ran up, wrapping her small arms around both their legs, giggling as Alessandro scooped her up into his arms, resting her on his shoulder.

Max rested his front paws on Alessandro’s waist, panting with open-mouthed joy, his tail wagging against the summer grass.
The mafia boss who once ruled the shadows through fear had finally found his true kingdom—held safely in the warm laughter of his wife, the bright eyes of his little girl, and the loyal heart of the dog that brought him back from the dead."
