Chapter 8 - The Boardroom Coup

The boardroom of Bellini Atlantic Logistics was located on the thirty-fourth floor of an imposing glass tower overlooking the Philadelphia harbor.

Nine board members and family elders sat around the massive polished walnut table, their expressions grim and anxious.

Vincent Bellini sat at the head of the table with a triumphant, venomous smirk plastered across his face.

"Luca has disgraced this family!" Vincent shouted, slamming his palm on the wood. "He engaged in a street brawl in South Philly yesterday over some common baker! He is erratic, dangerous, and unfit to hold the chairmanship under our grandfather's trust!"

Several older board members nodded in uneasy agreement, murmuring among themselves.

"The trust requires a stable, married leader with the family's honor at heart," Vincent pressed, smelling blood in the water. "I move for an immediate vote of no confidence to strip Luca of his shares and remove him as chairman."

Before the corporate secretary could call for the vote, the heavy double doors of the boardroom swung open with tremendous force.

Luca entered the room, looking immaculate in a tailored three-piece navy suit, every inch the untouchable king of the city.

And walking beside him, her head held high and her hand firmly locked in his, was Naomi.

She wore an elegant ivory dress that gracefully hugged her curves, looking every bit the poised, untouchable matriarch of the Bellini family.

"Sit down, Vincent," Luca said calmly, his commanding voice silencing the entire room in an instant.

Vincent sneered, though his eyes betrayed a flicker of nervousness. "You're too late, Luca. The board is about to vote. Your little sham marriage to a penniless baker won't save you."

Naomi stepped forward before Luca could speak, looking directly at the board members who controlled the empire.

"I may be a baker, Mr. Bellini," Naomi said, her clear voice ringing with absolute confidence. "My grandmother taught me that you judge a man by what he builds, not what he destroys."

She opened her leather portfolio and slid a series of certified bank records and offshore transaction files down the center of the table.

"While my husband was protecting our company from sabotage, Vincent was transferring Bellini Atlantic shipping funds to private dummy accounts in the Cayman Islands," Naomi announced, pointing directly at the paper trail.

Vincent jumped out of his chair, knocking over his water glass. "That's a lie! She fabricated those records!"

"The FBI received those identical files twenty minutes ago, Vincent," Luca said quietly, leaning forward on the table. "Along with Colin Mercer’s formal statement naming you as the man who financed his return to Philadelphia to blackmail my family."

Vincent's face drained of color as the board members turned to look at him with undisguised contempt.

Two corporate security officers stepped into the room, flanking Vincent’s chair.

"The board votes unanimously to strip Vincent Bellini of all titles, shares, and trust privileges," the eldest director declared, glaring at the traitor. "Get him out of our sight."

Vincent was escorted out in disgrace, leaving Luca and Naomi standing victorious at the head of the empire.
