Chapter 9 - The Moonlit Coronation

Three weeks later, the ancient forest of the Cascade Mountains was illuminated by thousands of floating lanterns hung from the branches of towering Douglas firs. The scent of pine needles, roasted feasts, and blooming mountain flowers filled the crisp autumn air.
Representatives from every pack across North America had gathered at the sacred moonstone spring. There was no defiance left in the crowd; after the swift fall of the Portland conspiracy, the Lycan Coalition had united under Alaric Crawford with unprecedented loyalty.
Helga stood beside the crystal-clear waters of the spring, looking down at her reflection beneath the brilliant light of the full moon. She wore a breathtaking white gown spun from woven silk, adorned with subtle silver embroidery that mirrored the ancient wolf sigils of her ancestors. Around her neck hung a pendant carved from pure Cascade moonstone, glowing with a soft, pulsing light that synchronized perfectly with her heartbeat.
Beside her, Alaric wore formal ceremonial regalia of deep black velvet, lined with silver fur. He looked every inch the Alpha King—commanding, lethal, and impossibly handsome. But as he looked down at Helga, his expression was filled with an overwhelming tenderness that silenced the thousands of wolves watching from the shadows of the trees.
Elder Vance stepped forward, holding a silver chalice filled with sacred spring water.
""By the light of the Moon Mother and the blood of the ancient protectors,"" Elder Vance chanted, his voice carrying through the silent forest, ""we bear witness to the binding of two souls. Not by treaty, not by politics, but by the undeniable resonance of the Fated Bond.""
Alaric took the chalice, drinking deeply before handing it to Helga. She took the cup, her hands steady, and swallowed the cool, sweet water. An extraordinary sensation of warmth spread through her body, erasing every lingering doubt, every past scar, and filling her soul with a fierce, unbreakable strength.
Alaric took her left hand in his. With a silver needle, he made a tiny prick on his thumb, then on hers, pressing their hands together.
A blinding flash of golden light erupted between their palms, washing over the entire clearing in a wave of pure magic. The pack members gasped, falling to their knees in reverent awe. The Fated Mark blossomed on Helga’s wrist—a delicate, intricate crescent moon intertwined with a running wolf, glowing with an eternal, golden fire.
""Long live the Alpha King!"" Hudson shouted, raising his fist to the sky.

""Long live the Queen!"" the entire forest answered in a thunderous, unified roar, followed by the majestic chorus of hundreds of wolves howling in joyful celebration beneath the stars.
Alaric pulled Helga into his arms, lifting her off her feet as his mouth captured hers in a deep, passionate kiss that sealed their bond for eternity. In that moment, the noise of the crowd, the weight of the crown, and the shadows of the past all faded into oblivion. She was home.
