Chapter 10 - Happily Ever After

The cliffside glass chapel in Malibu overlooked the endless expanse of the Pacific Ocean, its waves crashing softly against the golden shore below. Sunlight poured through the soaring glass windows, illuminating the sea of smiling faces gathered for the ceremony. There were no high-society snobs, no manipulative socialites, and no corporate acquaintances looking to network. Just our closest friends, our trusted team, and the people who truly loved us for who we were.
As the string quartet struck up a gentle, uplifting melody, the heavy wooden doors at the back of the chapel opened wide.
Valeria and Sofia walked slowly down the aisle first, scattering delicate rose petals across the white runner with bright, proud smiles, holding hands tightly the entire way. And right behind them, walking with a graceful, radiant poise that took my breath away, was Marisol.
She wore a breathtaking, classic ivory lace gown that caught the afternoon light like starlight. Her eyes met mine across the room, and in that single moment, every painful memory of the past, every doubt, and every mistake I had ever made faded completely into the background.
When she reached the altar, I took her hands in mine. They were warm, steady, and real.
"Do you, Alexander, take Marisol to be your lawfully wedded wife?" the officiant asked, his voice warm and clear.
I looked into Marisol’s eyes, thinking back to the dark security room, the glowing monitors, and the terrifying truth that had changed our lives forever. If I hadn't suspected the worst, I never would have discovered the truth. I never would have seen the monster hiding behind the mask. And I never would have found the woman who brought true light and unconditional love back into my home.
"I do," I said, my voice steady, ringing clearly through the sunlit chapel.
"And do you, Marisol, take Alexander to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
Marisol smiled, her eyes glistening with happy tears. "I do."

"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
As I leaned in and kissed my wife, the entire chapel erupted into cheers and applause. Valeria and Sofia cheered the loudest of all, jumping up and down in the front row. As we walked back up the aisle together, hand in hand, with our daughters running ahead and scattering petals into the bright California air, I knew that our family wasn't just surviving anymore—we were truly, deeply, and forever happy.
