Chapter 8 - The Fall of Victoria Ashford

Victoria stood frozen at the head of the table, her breath coming in ragged, shallow gasps as the empire she had manipulated for thirty years collapsed into ruin.

"You would do this to your own mother?" she hissed, looking at Daniel with pure, unadulterated hatred. "You would hand our family dynasty to that common, penniless little girl from Brooklyn?"

"Elena is ten times the woman you ever were, Mother," Daniel replied, his tone devoid of a single ounce of warmth or pity. "She built a life with her own sweat while you spent decades destroying people from behind ivory desks."

Daniel pulled a second manila envelope from his briefcase, dropping it squarely in front of her.

"What is this?" Victoria choked out.

"Those are the forensic financial reports uncovered by Marcus Vance over the last seventy-two hours," Daniel revealed, stepping closer until his shadow completely eclipsed her.

The room fell into a breathless, terrifying silence.

"You embezzled twenty-two million dollars from the Ashford Charitable Foundation to pay off the private intelligence operatives who tracked Elena in Seattle," Daniel stated, each word landing like an executioner's blade.

Victoria flinched as if she had been struck across the face.

"You forged my father’s medical signatures during his final weeks to alter his personal stock grants," Daniel continued ruthlessly. "And you paid two municipal building inspectors in Washington state to attempt to shut down Elena’s landscape design studio with fraudulent safety violations."

The board members gasped, murmurs of absolute outrage rippling through the room.

"You're a criminal, Victoria," Daniel said softly, the title of mother gone from his vocabulary forever. "You have sixty minutes to clear your personal effects from this building."

"You can't evict me from Ashford Tower!" Victoria shrieked, losing her aristocratic composure entirely. "My husband built this tower!"

"My father built it," Daniel corrected coldly. "And under the terms of the foundation's bylaws regarding moral turpitude and corporate fraud, the board is exercising its mandatory removal clause."

Daniel turned to the two executive security officers standing by the entrance.

"Escort Mrs. Ashford to the curb," Daniel commanded. "Her access credentials to all Ashford properties worldwide are permanently revoked."

The guards stepped forward, firmly taking Victoria by her silk-clad arms.

She struggled, screaming curses that echoed down the executive corridor, her pearls catching on the doorframe as she was dragged away from the throne she had stolen.

Daniel stood at the head of the empty boardroom, looking out the massive windows toward the Manhattan skyline, finally drawing a clean, unburdened breath.
