Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Dawn

Back at the Vance estate in Montreux, the morning mist was clearing over Lake Geneva, revealing a breathtaking panorama of snow-capped alpine peaks mirrored in the calm blue water.

Little Leo, dressed in a warm blue fleece jacket, was chasing his golden retriever across the expansive stone terrace, his joyful laughter ringing out like church bells in the crisp mountain air.

I stood beside the stone balustrade, watching my son with a heart completely overflowed with peace, security, and boundless joy.

Warm, strong arms wrapped gently around my waist from behind, followed by the familiar, comforting scent of sandalwood and fresh snow.

"He runs faster every single day, Claire," Julian Sterling whispered softly, resting his chin affectionately against my shoulder. "In a few years, he’ll be out-skiing both of us down the slopes of the Matterhorn."

I smiled, turning in his arms to look up into the handsome, honest face of the man who had spent the last two years proving to me that true love is built on unwavering loyalty, fierce protection, and absolute respect.

Julian had never once tried to control me, diminish my strength, or take credit for my family’s empire. He had stood beside me as an equal partner, helping me establish the Evelyn Vance Foundation for At-Risk Mothers across three continents.

"He gets his speed from his mother," I laughed softly, resting my hands against Julian’s chest.

"And his courage," Julian replied tenderly, leaning down to press a soft, lingering kiss against my lips. "Never forget how fiercely you fought to give him this life, my love."

Uncle Alistair walked out onto the terrace, holding a silver tray with warm croissants and fresh orange juice, smiling warmly as Leo ran up to tackle his legs with a joyful squeal.

"Breakfast for the young prince!" Alistair announced, scooping Leo up into his strong arms with a booming laugh.

I took Julian’s hand, feeling the solid, unshakable warmth of his fingers intertwined with mine, looking out over the majestic mountains that guarded our peaceful sanctuary.

The darkness of Chicago, the pain of abandonment, and the cold hospital room where I had suffered alone were nothing more than distant shadows swallowed by the rising sun.

I had walked through the valley of betrayal, reclaimed my heritage, and built an unbreakable fortress of love for my son.

And as the golden sunlight broke over the peaks of the Alps, I knew with absolute certainty that our new dawn would never fade.
