Chapter 7 - Alden’s Shocking Confession And The Evidence Drop

By 1:30 P.M., the atmosphere inside the Grand Meridian Resort’s grand ballroom was nothing short of electric. Five hundred of the city’s elite, dressed in designer tuxedos and sweeping evening gowns, chatted nervously beneath massive crystal chandeliers, confused by the sudden absence of the groom and the frantic whispers echoing among the wedding coordinators.
Althia and Stellin stood near the front row, plastering tense, fake smiles onto their faces while desperately dialing Alden's phone for the hundredth time. Sutton was still locked in the private bridal suite upstairs, throwing crystal perfume bottles against the wall and screaming that her perfect day was being ruined by ungrateful people.
Then, the heavy oak doors at the back of the ballroom swung wide open.
All conversations abruptly died. Every head turned in unison.
It wasn't the groom walking down the aisle. It was Alden—not dressed in his custom wedding tuxedo, but wearing a sharp business suit, carrying a thick leather briefcase, and flanked by two uniformed Westchester police officers and a high-ranking process server.
Althia’s face drained of all color, her jaw dropping open in sheer horror. Stellin stumbled forward, his hands trembling as he tried to block Alden's path.
"Alden! What is the meaning of this?!" my father barked, his voice cracking with panic. "Where is your tuxedo? The ceremony is supposed to start in thirty minutes! Do you have any idea how much money—"
"Quiet down, Stellin," Alden interrupted, his voice cutting through the silent ballroom with chilling authority. He stepped up onto the raised dais where the floral arch stood, turning to face the stunned crowd of five hundred guests.
At that exact second, across the city in my apartment, Vesper hit the execute button on our master console.
Simultaneously, every large projection screen inside the ballroom—which had been set up to display romantic photo montages of Sutton and Alden—flickered black. A split second later, high-definition video footage began playing across every screen in the room.
It was the crystal-clear recording of Sutton maliciously shoving me down the marble staircase, accompanied by her ringing, cruel laughter echoing loudly through the state-of-the-art sound system.
Gasps erupted from the crowd. Several prominent socialites covered their mouths in horror, while murmurs of shock and disgust rippled through the rows of expensive seating.
Before anyone could recover, the screens shifted to display the itemized corporate bank statements, highlighting the two hundred and fourteen thousand dollars in unauthorized wire transfers stolen directly from my business development account to pay for the very wedding everyone was currently attending.
Althia let out a choked shriek and collapsed heavily into a folding chair, while Stellin lunged toward the projection console in a futile attempt to pull the plug, only to be blocked by the two police officers standing firmly at the base of the stage.
Alden stepped up to the microphone, his expression completely expressionless.

"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming," Alden announced clearly into the microphone. "Unfortunately, there will be no wedding today. What you are witnessing is not a celebration of love, but a documented record of severe assault, corporate embezzlement, and systemic financial abuse perpetrated by the Torres family against an innocent woman."
The ballroom erupted into absolute chaos. Cameras flashed, reporters who had caught wind of the police dispatch flooded through the side doors, and the illusion of the Blackwood-style perfection my parents had spent a lifetime building completely imploded in a matter of seconds.
