Chapter 6 - The Return to the Vegas Strip

The neon lights of the Las Vegas Strip burned brighter than ever, casting surreal shades of magenta and gold across the tinted windows of Julian Vance’s custom-built Rolls-Royce Phantom. As the vehicle glided silently toward the grand entrance of the Paradise Grand Casino, the valets immediately scrambled, recognizing the unmistakable crest of Vance Global emblazoned on the door panels.

Inside the vehicle, I adjusted the lapel of my bespoke white Alexander McQueen trouser suit, slipping a pair of sleek designer sunglasses over my eyes. Beside me, Julian sat with easy elegance, his tailored charcoal suit fitting him like a second skin, a subtle smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

“Are you ready for this, Claire?” Julian asked, turning his head to look at me, his dark eyes holding a mixture of deep respect and unmistakable admiration. “Once we walk through those doors, there’s no turning back. Your husband and your family will know you’re the architect of their downfall.”

“I’ve been ready for three years, Julian,” I replied softly, my voice completely devoid of hesitation. “They built their entire world on deception, theft, and arrogance. It’s time to show them what happens when the foundation finally collapses.”

The Rolls-Royce glided to a halt right beneath the grand crystal chandelier of the Paradise Grand porte-cochère. Flashbulbs from paparazzi—tipped off by Julian’s PR team—immediately began to pop like miniature lightning storms.

When the chauffeur opened my door, I stepped out first, my heels clicking sharply against the red carpet laid out for high-rollers and international dignitaries.

The casino floor went dead silent.

Card dealers froze mid-deal. Slot machines chimed quietly in the background, contrasting sharply with the heavy, suffocating stillness that swept through the gaming hall. Gamblers, tourists, and high-roller regulars turned their heads, their jaws dropping as they recognized me—not as the docile, obedient wife of Dante Moretti, but as the stunning, untouchable corporate queen flanked by Julian Vance, the most feared billionaire investor in the international gaming industry.

Standing near the high-roller VIP cage, looking like a man who had just aged ten years in forty-eight hours, was Dante Moretti himself.

His custom Brioni suit was rumpled, his dark hair slightly disheveled, and his face drained of all its usual arrogant color. Beside him stood Marcus, his frantic attorney, clutching a briefcase like a drowning man holding onto a piece of driftwood.

Dante’s eyes locked onto mine. For a fraction of a second, confusion flickered across his face. Then recognition hit him like a physical blow.

“Claire...” Dante breathed out, pushing his way past a security guard, his voice cracking with a mixture of disbelief and absolute terror. “What... what is the meaning of this? What are you doing here with him?”

I didn't stop walking. I didn't even slow down. Julian extended his arm, offering his elbow for me to hold, a silent gesture of absolute partnership and respect.

We stopped five feet away from Dante. The silence on the casino floor was absolute, heavy enough to suffocate a room full of men.

“Hello, Dante,” I said, my voice carrying effortlessly across the cavernous gaming hall, clear, steady, and freezing cold. “You look like a man who just discovered his house has been foreclosed.”

Dante’s face flushed a deep, violent crimson, his hands clenching into tight fists at his sides. “Are you out of your mind? Have you lost your damn mind, Claire?! Freezing corporate accounts? Bringing this corporate vulture into my casino? You’re my wife! You belong to me!”

A sharp, sophisticated laugh escaped my lips.

“Your wife?” I tilted my head, looking at him as if he were a particularly disgusting insect crawling across my pristine desk. “Dante, let’s get one thing straight before you embarrass yourself any further. I am not your wife anymore. I am your executioner.”
