Chapter 9 - The Private Cathedral

On a clear, crisp afternoon in mid-February, the historic stone cathedral in Brooklyn Heights was bathed in golden winter sunlight.
There were no paparazzi cameras, no celebrity sponsorships, and no commercial press allowed within three blocks of the sanctuary.
Inside sat sixty close friends, university colleagues, art students, and veteran dockworkers who had known Julian since his early shipping days.
At the front of the altar stood Julian Sterling, looking breathtakingly handsome in a classic midnight-blue tuxedo, his eyes fixed on the heavy oak doors.
The cathedral organ swelled into a triumphant, sweeping melody, and the doors swung wide open.
Naomi stepped onto the marble aisle, walking with steady grace and breathtaking beauty.
She wore her mother’s restored gown—an ethereal silk masterpiece featuring delicate calla lily lace trailing down long sleeves, crowned by a cathedral-length veil hand-embroidered with thousands of tiny seed pearls.
She didn't walk with her father; she walked proudly alone, her chin held high as she carried her own destiny into the light.
When Julian saw her, the fierce, unyielding billionaire was visibly moved, a rare tear slipping down his cheek as he stepped forward to meet her at the altar steps.
He took her hands into his own, his grip warm, steady, and protective.
"You look like an answered prayer," Julian whispered, his baritone voice trembling with raw devotion.
"You gave me back my mother’s voice, Julian," Naomi replied, her eyes shining with joy.
"And you showed me that real love protects instead of controls."
The minister spoke words of enduring covenant, but the true vows were already carved into their hearts through months of trial and loyalty.
When Julian placed the platinum band onto Naomi’s finger, it was not a display of extravagant wealth, but an unbreakable promise of safety, honor, and mutual respect.

"I pronounce you husband and wife," the minister declared, smiling broadly at the couple.
Julian pulled Naomi into his arms, kissing his bride deeply as the vaulted arches of the cathedral echoed with warm, heartfelt applause from the people who truly loved them.
