Chapter 10 - Queen of the Ice and Heart

One year later.

The Blackwood estate on Long Island was bathed in golden summer sunshine. The sprawling lawns rolled down toward a private white-sand beach where gentle waves lapped against the shore. The estate, once a dark stronghold of suspicion and syndicate enforcers, was now filled with laughter, music, and the sweet scent of jasmine.

White marquees were pitched across the grass for our official wedding reception—a real celebration, surrounded by true friends, athletes, and the kids from our academy, completely free from the shadow of mafia politics.

I stood on the wide veranda, wearing an off-shoulder ivory lace gown that flowed around my ankles like seafoam. In my arms, I held our two-month-old daughter, Sophia, who was sleeping peacefully against my chest, her tiny fists curled beneath her chin. She had her father’s jet-black hair and my quiet, observant eyes.

A pair of strong arms slipped around my waist from behind, pulling me flush against a warm, broad chest.

""She looks just like you when she sleeps,"" Vincent whispered softly into my ear, resting his cheek against mine.

""She has your stubborn chin, Mr. Blackwood,"" I teased gently, tilting my head back to meet his gaze. ""God help the world when she learns how to skate.""

Vincent chuckled, that deep, rumbling laugh that had become my favorite sound in the universe. He reached out and gently stroked our daughter’s soft cheek with his pinky finger.

""I signed the final deed for the upstate winter camp this morning,"" he said. ""Another fifty acres of protected ice and training facilities for our scholarship athletes. Mikhail’s daughter will run the coaching staff.""

I smiled, turning slightly in his arms so I could look into those striking blue eyes. The darkness that had haunted him for a decade was completely gone, replaced by a deep, enduring peace.

""You've given them all a second chance, Vincent,"" I murmured. ""Just like you gave me.""

""You saved yourself, Emily,"" he said firmly, leaning down to press a tender, lingering kiss to my lips. ""I was just a lonely, dangerous man who was lucky enough to offer a maid a wager on a sheet of frozen glass.""

""Best bet you ever made,"" I whispered against his lips.

May you like

""Best bet I ever made,"" he agreed.

Out on the lawn, the music picked up as our friends began dancing beneath the sunlight. Vincent wrapped his arm securely around me and our daughter, guiding us down the marble steps toward the celebration, stepping into a bright, boundless future built on truth, courage, and an unbreakable love."
