Chapter 10 - The Wolf and the Architect

Six months later, the ocean breeze was warm and fragrant across the sprawling grounds of the Varelli estate.
The heavy blast shutters in the Wolf Room had been replaced with floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto a private terrace.
The bronze wolf still hung above the fireplace, but it no longer felt like a monument to paranoia and isolation.
Down by the docks of Pier Seventeen, a massive celebration was underway under the bright Florida sunshine.
The pier had been completely rebuilt from the seabed up, reinforced with certified titanium-grade steel and cutting-edge safety sensors.
Hundreds of port workers, city officials, and legitimate business partners raised champagne glasses in a unified toast.
At the center of the ribbon-cutting platform stood Corinne Varelli, wearing a radiant emerald green dress that complimented her dark hair.
Her ribs were completely healed, her posture radiant and confident as she held the ceremonial golden shears.
Beside her stood Roman, dressed in a sharp charcoal suit, looking at his wife like she was the only person in the universe.
"Ladies and gentlemen," Mayor Harrison announced over the microphone, smiling at the crowd. "To the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Partner of Varelli Maritime: Mrs. Corinne Varelli!"
The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, the port workers cheering loudly for the woman who had saved their lives by exposing the fraudulent steel.
Corinne snipped the crimson ribbon, the crowd roaring with approval as ship horns blasted across the sparkling bay.
Roman wrapped his arm securely around her waist, pulling her close as the cameras flashed in dozens of directions.
"Chief Operating Partner?" Roman whispered into her ear, his lips brushing against her hair. "Has a nice ring to it."
"It pays better than forensic consulting," she joked, turning in his arms to look up into his striking gray eyes.
"You saved my life that night in the Wolf Room, Corinne," Roman said, his voice entirely serious, filled with deep, abiding love.
"And you trusted me enough to let me do it," she replied softly, touching the familiar pale scar on his jaw.
"I will trust you with everything I have, for the rest of my days," Roman vowed, leaning down to capture her lips in a deep, passionate kiss.
The crowd cheered even louder, celebrating not just the rebirth of a shipping empire, but the rise of an unbreakable partnership.

Corinne had walked into the Wolf Room as an underestimated wife trapped in a gilded cage.
She had walked out as the architect of their future, ruling the empire side by side with the man who adored her.
