Chapter 6 - The Fall of Silvio

Silvio’s trembling fingers unlocked the phone screen. The breaking news notification from the Boston Globe flashed brightly against the dim room: Federal Raid on South Boston Shipping Hub Exposes Decades-Long Union Embezzlement Scheme Masterminded by Underworld Veteran Silvio Bellucci.
“How... how did they get this?” Silvio stammered, the color draining completely from his face until he resembled a corpse.
“Before I walked into this club,” Roman explained coldly, “Elias delivered a duplicate set of your private financial logs to the United States Attorney’s office. The very same logs you thought were hidden behind the false wall in your Marblehead estate. You forgot that Carlo Moretti built those security protocols. And Carlo’s daughter knew every single password her father ever programmed.”
Clara had not spent her two years in the Bellucci mansion simply dusting shelves. While keeping Ellie safe from Silvio’s hit squads, she had quietly monitored the family’s digital networks, waiting for the exact moment when Roman’s inner circle showed a crack. When she realized Roman was genuinely attempting to forge peace with the Valentes, she knew the time had come to strike at the real monster in the shadows.
Elias stepped forward with heavy plastic restraints, roughly yanking Silvio’s arms behind his back despite the old man’s cries of protest. “You dishonored our blood, Silvio. You killed my father's brother. You rot in a federal supermax, or I put you in Boston Harbor tonight. Be thankful Roman still has some respect for the law.”
Sirens began wailing in the distance, echoing off the historic brick facades of the North End. Roman looked at Nathan.
“Get out of here through the alley,” Roman said quietly. “The police will be here in three minutes. Go to the safehouse on Cape Cod. Clara and Ellie are on their way there right now with my personal driver.”
Nathan wiped the sweat and blood from his forehead. “What about Serena? What happens to my sister?”
“Your sister played me for a fool, but she did it to avenge our fathers,” Roman replied, his voice softening slightly. “Tell her the wedding is officially canceled. But our families' war ends tonight. Permanently.”

Nathan nodded respectfully, tapping two fingers against his brow in a parting salute before slipping out through the fire exit into the swirling blizzard.
Roman walked out of the ruined social club just as the flashing red and blue lights of Boston Police cruisers illuminated the falling snow. He stood on the sidewalk, hands in his pockets, perfectly calm, waiting for the detectives he had known for a decade to arrive. The reign of terror that had haunted his youth was finally crumbling, but the hardest confrontation was still waiting for him back on Beacon Hill.
